Things not to eat in Nicaragua
OK. So I've been there and tried a couple of things that I do not recommend to anyone. First, is the turtle eggs. They come very warm but they are still raw in the middle. Basically you make a hole in the shell and suck out the yolk and white. You are supposed to use a little salt and lime but it didn't help at all. The other was some crazy beer thing that had beer, hot sauce and ice. Yeah, it was gross.

Oh god, make it stop! I was trying to eat a banana, which I don't really like the texture of in the first place, and I had to set it down and only read your post in little segments, because the egg-texture and the banana-texture were conspiring to make me gag. BAD!
And I was just taking a sip of coffee as I read that and I thought it was going to come back up. Eggs are the sort of thing that if you didn't start eating them before you knew what they were, you'd never be able to start. I can handle chicken eggs and, strangely, fish eggs, but even duck eggs give me the willies, and sucking half-cooked turtle eggs, well that's just nasty.
And by the way, Dieter's just about to mail us the Checker's pictures, so you can blog them when you get home.
Can you bring back some turtle eggs?
I can mix all sorts of crap with beer and still drink it, but reading about that turtle egg stuff just made my stomach churn.
By the way, I've been enjoying reading about your adventures. Thanks for sharing.
david, I'm working on the Checker's entry now.
Sylvie, no. Go by a ping pong ball and a chicken egg, put contents of the egg into the ping pong ball and then suck it out. Pretty much the same effect.
Phil or anyone else, check out the photos

I like the photo of your foot. Thank you for taking it to exotic locations and photographing it for us.
