Tofu Cream Pie is En Vogue

Ha! I just got done giggling about a little story that I read. So PETA activists in France just pelted the US editor of Vogue with a cream pie. It was in protest to Vogue's pro-fur editorials. I know they got Bill Gates and a couple of others but this pie was tofu! I think the only way this could have been funnier would be if they got her as she was going in to the fashion show.

I do like animals a lot and do agree with PETA to a certain extent but man, I just couldn't go vegetarian. I like meat way too much. I've thought about it a couple of times. My diet is pretty meat-less but I still like a steak or a good burger.

I do refrain from buying leather products as much as possible. I still think it is necessary for things like shoes and belts but cowskin is not needed for couches and carseats. I guess I am the opposite of a vegetarian wearing a leather jacket.

I totally agree with you. I need my cow every now and then, even though I know I'm definitely headed to hell for that. If God didn't want us to eat animals, She wouldn't have made them of meat ;-)

I need to have leather car seats because cars with power seats only come with leather. I need power seats so that I can see when I drive. But I have a leather couch and that was purely by choice...the nicest couch for the space and best deal happened to be leather. I'm not meant to join PETA.

Sylvie, just remember that they don't eat steak in that heaven that you are referring to. You wouldn't want to go there anyway. On the other hand Indian food is good and I love lamp...uh, I mean lamb.

Yeah, I don't plan on ever getting leather furnature. Another reason for my avoidance is that I plan on getting a dog and I don't want to have to worry about claws and leather.

I think that in some instances both leather and fur are forgivable.

When it's really, really cold outside, fur is totally understandable. If it were possible to have fur hats and mittens made out of warm, live animals that didn't bite or crap on us when we wore them, I'm sure it would have been done by now. (And toy dogs don't count.)

Leather is okay for shoes, purses, and saddles. (However, I personally draw the fashion line at wearing the skins of possible endangered animals, such as snakes, lizards, or alligators. Besides, they don't make good suade...I think, right?

PETA people crazy, remember. My favorite PETA story is when they released a bunch of animals from a lab and, the ones that didn't get run over by cars, ran back to the lab.

Yeah, they are crazy. Some of the people in groups like that are nuts. I've never understood Greenpeace people that spraypaint baby seals either.

PETA threatened my life once... in a horrible letter to my mother who was the school board chairman at the time, they demanded that the school system cease all animal dissections hinting that she would feel terrible if her own loved ones were dissected... Their priorities are completely messed up and they are entirely misinformed, choosing to read and believe only what is consistent with their already-set beliefs. Erg. I hate them.

I've never tried eating PETA people, but I'll take your advice that they are good to eat. ;)
