What I did this weekend...
Tony and I installed a slate walkway to my front door. This has been on my list of to-dos for about 3 years. It is so great to have it done. It took about 4 hours, 5 bags of sand, 7 bags of gravel, and a lot of slate. I think the longest piece was fitting the slate into each other. It was a lot more difficult than it looked.

IMHO, you ought to have the "Before" picture first and the "After" picture second!
Listen to this one! Thinking she knows it all.
Actually at one point, that WAS the before and after picture, Andy arranged the slate before I got there as a test run and then we moved it to dig out the hole etc, etc. That was our biggest mistake, not retaining the pattern b/c it was a B%^ to get back together. I think we learned that lesson, if nothing else.
Good point, Tony. I also wanted to show off my wares right away. Thanks for your help too!
You should send this page to Slate! Magazine! HA! I amuse!
Ha.
heh
ahem
Huh, the first thing I thought of was Fred Flinstone's boss, Mr. Slate.
I thought of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe! Har har!
When are you two coming to help with my home =)
My parents have a sandstone walkway to their very unused front door. It had to be dug up a while back for something involving the well which probably happened while I was still in high school. For years, the walkway was part dirt because my parents didn't take time to make sure they knew where the stones were. A couple of years ago, my mother just took initiative and re-made the walkway so its all pretty again, but it still isn't the same way I remembered it growing up.
BTW, Mr. apete, your apage will be showing up on my friends table soon.... someday
I think you should resume blogging....
This walkway was done weekends ago, he's just milking it now.
This blog is boring. Yawn.
